Will Burna Boy Now Be responsible as a Role Model?

Success in life indeed brings satisfaction and a sense of fulfillment even when one feels underrated and not having achieved much in life and people’s perception.

Just like success has made Burna Boy to become the toast of music followers and the poster boy of the Nigerian music nay the African music scene on account of his success in churning out hit songs that has brought him awards in the last one year.

His Grammy award nomination, Best African Act in MTV Europe Music Awards, three awards at HEADIES 2019 and the Best African Artiste of the Year at recently concluded All Africa Music Awards AFRIMA 2019 all point to Burna Boy’s success this year.
The young lad has indeed done well for himself also clinching major brand endorsements. It seemed the versatile singer whose real name is Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu has also passed through an image re-branding since 2018 and this re-defined personality could be what must have earned him Best Young Personality at the Future Awards held recently in Lagos.

What could have transpired? Time? or he outgrew his exuberance with age or was it Kim Stefflon, his girl friend? Whoever God used in this position of his transformation is a miracle-worker to the extent that you won’t see Indian hemp related pictures or any of indecent morals of Burna Boy on instagram anymore and it doesn’t mean that Burna doesn’t indulge with it anymore like his colleagues.

Burna Boy once said in 2017, he wasn’t anyone’s role model- inferring that he didn’t care about people’s perception of him.

“I am not your role model. I am just a 25 year old who has been through more than any 25 year old should have to, therefore takes life 1 day at a time and tries to make the best of things,” Burna Boy posted on one of his micro-blogging site in 2017.
The post evoked a man trying to live his life as he deemed fit including his weed-smoking habit. Now, none of these ‘bad’ habits in the eyes of the public is associated with Burna Boy anymore.

The ‘No role-model’ boasting artiste is now celebrated and accepted by all on account of his re-defined personality. Burna Boy has proved that indeed time heals all wounds and that hardwork with a dint of luck accompanied with a goal-oriented PR team can bring stardom out of any talented artiste.
The face of Star Lager Beer, the ‘Shine Shine Bobo,’ Burna Boy, who has released chart topping tracks like Baddest with AKA rose to prominence in 2012 after releasing the lead single “Like to Party” from his debut studio album, L.I.F.E (2013). In 2017, Burna Boy signed with Bad Habit/Atlantic Records in the United States and Warner Music Group internationally. His third studio album Outside (2018) marked his major-label debut.

In 2019, he won Best International Act at the 2019 BET Awards. He was also announced as Apple Music’s Up Next artist. His fourth studio album African Giant was released in July 2019.
